- ORIGIN
- Cashew nuts grow on Anacardium occidentale, a tree native to South America that is related to the mango and the pistachio.
- Grown throughout the tropics, cashews are cultivated in areas including South America, parts of Africa, India and the Far East (where they are especially popular).
- NUTRITION
- Although they are high in fat, more than 75% of the fats they contain are mono and poly unsaturated fats (the good fats which are essential for the body)
- Cashews contain essential fatty acids, fibre, protein, carbohydrate, B vitamins, iron, selenium, potassium and zinc.
- NB –– A delicious snack, cashews are also used in cooking...but choose unsalted cashews if cooking with them.
