Cranberries in a dish

CRANBERRIES

  • ORIGIN
    • The native peoples of North America used cranberries as food, ceremonially and medicinally. It’s thought that the first cranberry beds were planted in Massachusetts in the early 1800’s. Today they are farmed across the northern USA and in Canada.
  • NUTRITION
    • An excellent source of vitamins C and K, they are a good source of fibre and also contain manganese. They're very low in sodium and their nutritional properties are known to be useful in reducing urinary tract infections.
    • NB –– The refreshingly tart taste of cranberries makes them good to eat alone and great when mixed with nuts.
