No single authority really seems to know how long these seeds have been around. They’re grown in a variety of climates including, at times, the UK.

- NUTRITION
- Considered by many to be one of the super cancer fighting foods, linseeds are a great source of fibre and omega 3 as well as B vitamins and lignan compounds that may play a protective part in fighting against breast, prostate and colorectal cancers. They are also believed to be beneficial in the treatment of high blood cholesterol and high blood pressure. Linseeds are a good source of magnesium.
- Now commonly found in cereal bars, you can also add them to smoothies, cereals and breads.

NB Linseeds are a really excellent source of fibre. As such they can be used as an effective laxative...but it’s best to soak them first and you must take plenty of liquid with them if treating constipation.
